The Image Sciences Institute (ISI) is the research institute for medical imaging of the University Medical Center Utrecht.

The mission of the ISI is to offer an up-to-date educational programme and to carry out forefront fundamental and applied research on imaging systems, integration of multi-modality images, image processing and analysis, physiological modelling, simulation, visualization, computer assistance of diagnostic imaging, and image guidance of medical interventions, in connection with clinical research on diagnostic imaging, image-guided interventions, minimally invasive surgery, image-guided radiotherapy and nuclear therapy, and clinical evaluation of imaging procedures, with an emphasis on vascular diseases, brain diseases, and oncology.

The ISI is the core of the Graduate Programme Medical Imaging (ImagO) and is the hosting institute of the MSc programme Biomedical Image Sciences (BIS).
